Is it possible to be an empty nester when only 2 of your kids are out of the house? By out of the house I mean, in school because they’re 9 & 11 and you technically still have 3 other children in the home, all day. Matt and Sara just returned to school after a very long winter break. Granted that the first week I wanted to strangle them and they would drive the 2 toddlers crazy and me but the last 2 weeks were actually nice. (OhMGEE) Can’t believe I said that. This is the first vacation that I wasn’t counting down the days for them to return to school. Sara kept asking if she could be homeschooled already. haha, I doubt she’ll be so thrilled once it actually begins. I may not be so thrilled and wishing for the days when they would be in school. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Snow Days…We live in a area where it doesn’t snow and we have pretty warm weather most of the time. Not really my cup of tea, but it’s not that easy to relocate. Luckily when the mother nature blesses us with cold and rainy weather we are about a 90 minute drive from snowy mountains! We have been having some nice cold/rainy weather lately, with hot days in between, but none the less cold and that has brought snow to the mountain which allowed us to visit the snow on Saturday and it was so much fun. The 3 littles had never been to the snow and it had been about 5 years since Sara and Matt got to go. Needless to say they all enjoyed it.
We were able to find a nice spot pretty much to ourselves for a short while and were going down a small slope covered in fresh, white, fluffy powder in our sleds. It was pretty fun, however for me the first couple times were nerve wrecking. The last few times, once the snow was compressed and slippery, I was not only flying down the slope but going faster and father each time. Not to mention I was bouncing as I was sliding down and smacking my ass into the ground. ahaha. It was pretty fun, even though I was sore the next day. We’re hoping to have another snow weekend in February. Mother nature please hear our cry!
Side note: Little Mr. Jacob poops every 3 to 4 days (he’s exclusively breastfeed) and of course, he pooped (major poop) in his car seat while hanging out playing in the snow. Thank goodness that he didn’t have a poopspolsion and leak everywhere. God knows I’ve had to clean up my fair share of those.
2nd side note: I think I can safely say Issac is fully potty trained!! Wooohooo!!! I won’t hold night time accidents against him, he’s had 3 but other than that he has done so well since Christmas Eve. So freaken rad! Can you even understand the awesomeness in someone finally pooping/peeing in the toilet!?! Hahaha #MomLife
